Foil Adhesive for Screen Printing
Foil Adhesive is a clear adhesive used to produce brilliant metallic foil designs on textiles. The adhesive can be printed directly onto the fabric or directly on the foil as a conventional transfer. Designs made with ADV810 adhesive may be applied to light or dark fabrics.
Recommended Fabrics:
100% Cotton and some cotton/poly blends.
Ink Application:
Foil Adhesive should be printed directly from the container without modifications. Stir adhesive well prior to each use.
Screen Mesh and Emulsion:
60 to 110 mesh
Any direct or indirect emulsion.
Use 70-80 micron capillary film for best results.
Recommend: 86-110 mesh for T-Shirts
Recommend: 60-86 mesh for Sweatshirts
Squeegee:
60-75 Durometer, sharp or beveled edge.
Cure Temperature:
For direct printing on fabrics - 325°F entire ink film
For transfer printing (adhesive on foil) - 240°F to 275°F
Test dryer temperatures and wash test printed products before and during a production run.
Clean-Up:
ECO3000 Premium Ink Degrader & Stain Remover or comparable produt
Storage:
Recommended storage of ink containers is 65°F to 90°F. Avoid storage in direct sunlight and keep containers well sealed.
FOIL APPLICATION
Foil is applied colored side up and aluminum looking (dull) side down. Rub foil immediately after application to help remove any wrinkles. Allow the transfer to cool completely (20-30 seconds) after application before removal of the foil sheet. Pull the foil sheet off slowly.
It can be helpful to tint the Foil Adhesive to the color of the foil being applied with a small amount of conventional plastisol. This process will help to keep small pinholes in the applied foil film from being noticeable. For example, use a few grams of yellow or gold plastisol in the Foil Adhesive when using gold foil. Use a few grams of black or gray plastisol when using silver foil.
Application Temperature
300°F to 325°F. try lower temperature first for best results.
Application Time
10-15 Seconds
Application Pressure
T-Shirts = Medium (40lbs)
Sweatshirts = Medium to Heavy (40lbs to 60lbs)
The brightest foil effect will result when the foil is first removed. To achieve a textured matte foil finish, re-seal the garment or hat in the transfer press for 3-4 seconds after the foil carrier film has been removed.
Important Information
For the best durability of the foil after it is applied, it is recommended that the garment be hand washed or machine washed (delicate cycle) inside out and line or air dried. Do not use bleach. Do not iron the printed area.
